FC Tulsa to Open 2020 USL Championship Home Schedule against New Mexico United FC on March 14

TAMPA - FC Tulsa's 2020 home opener will feature two of the USL Championship's most-exciting teams, as New Mexico United FC will visit ONEOK Field on March 14. The league announced each club's home opener on Monday afternoon, and FC Tulsa drew the 2019 expansion team in New Mexico that made national headlines in its inaugural professional season while advancing to the Western Conference Playoffs.

As a part of the league's announcement, FC Tulsa will open the 2020 season on the road on March 7 at Sacramento Republic FC, another Western Conference Playoff team. Sacramento is a former USL Championship title winner, in 2014, and will make the move to Major League Soccer in the 2022 season.

Kickoff times for home matches are still to be announced.

FC Tulsa's home opener against New Mexico on March 14 is an intriguing matchup as it features sides that met in the penultimate match of the 2019 season. In that match, Tulsa scored a match-winning goal in the final seconds to beat New Mexico United 2-1. New Mexico snuck into the playoffs in its inaugural season as the No. 10 and final seed in the Western Conference.

"Our matches against New Mexico were both electric matches in the 2019 season," said FC Tulsa head coach Michael Nsien. "Our home match vs. New Mexico produced the 2019 USL Championship Goal of the Year, a red card and a 96' minute match-winner. With the quality of players that we have signed to our 2020 roster, we are hoping to get the support from our fans that gives us the edge at home and creates an environment that keeps our players motivated for 90 plus minutes."
