August 23, 2020 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Tulsa News Release
SAN ANTONIO - It took seven matches into the 2020 season, but FC Tulsa was handed its first loss of the season 2-0 by Group D leaders San Antonio FC. Just 10 days after the sides drew 0-0 in Tulsa, San Antonio took advantage of being on its home pitch. A PK in the first half followed by....
After two incredible Sean Lewis saves to keep the match scoreless, San Antonio broke through first off a PK in the 42'. The penalty was awarded after Tulsa midfielder Lebo Moloto inadvertently handled the ball in the box. SAFC forward Luis Solignac converted the PK to give San Antonio a halftime lead of 1-0.
Play was even throughout much of the second half, but a questionable officiating decision led to San Antonio's second tally. In the 87' minute, FC Tulsa midfielder Fabián Bastidas kicked a ball out of play. San Antonio's Gonzalo Di Renzo then two-arm shoved Bastidas to the ground. When Bastidas got up, he was shown a straight red card and sent off to the bewilderment of FC Tulsa staff and players. Just one minute later, San Antonio found the back of the net to seal the loss for Tulsa.
Attached are final stats and postmatch quotes from head coach Michael Nsien, defender Callum Chapman-Page and defender Bradley Bourgeois.

TULSA DROPS TO THIRD IN GROUP D
It was a tough night throughout the state of Texas for FC Tulsa as the loss, combined with a win by Austin Bold FC against Rio Grande Valley FC, dropped FC Tulsa out of playoff position to 3rd place in Group D. FC Tulsa will still have nine matches to jump back ahead of Austin Bold FC, including a pair of matches between Tulsa and Austin during the first week of September in the Texas capital.
MATCH OFFICIALS ALLOW SAN ANTONIO TO SUB AT FOUR DIFFERENT WINDOWS
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the International Football Association Board (IFAB) allowed the use of more substitutes per team, expanding the amount from three to five per match. However, teams can still use just three windows outside of halftime to make substitutions. In the second half of tonight's match, San Antonio FC made a sub at four different windows, one more than the limit.
CHAPMAN-PAGE EARNS FIRST START FOR FC TULSA
Defender Callum Chapman-Page earned his first start with FC Tulsa, playing a full 90 minutes and delivering a good shift with two tackles and a passing accuracy of 91.3% to lead all FC Tulsa starters.
UP NEXT
FC Tulsa will have a full week between matches until it returns home to ONEOK Field next Saturday night to play Sporting KC II at 7 p.m. CT. Tickets to the match are available at FCTulsa.com/tickets.
