FC Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact unveiled its official roster on Friday, for the first edition of FC Montreal, which will be competing in the USL championship, starting March 28 against Toronto FC II, at Olympic Stadium.
26 players will make up FC Montreal's first ever roster in USL in 2015. The team is composed of 20 Quebecers, five Ontarians, as well as one player from Switzerland.
GOALKEEPERS: Yann-Alexandre Fillion, Luca Leone, David Paulmin
DEFENDERS: Mitchel Bringolf, Janouk Charbonneau, John Dinkota, Jems Geffrard, Chakib Hocine, Zachary Sukunda, Mele Temguia, Franck Zoue
MIDFIELDERS: Yacine Ait Slimane, Nazim Belguendouz, Michael Bilak, Marco Dominguez, Emad Houache, Mastanabal Kacher, Philippe Lincourt-Joseph, Kevin Luarca, Zakaria Messoudi, Alessandro Riggi, Jonathan Vallee
FORWARDS: Charles Joly, Frederic Lajoie-Gravelle, Fabio Morelli, Victor N'Diaye
In addition, players from the first team will complement the roster depending on playing time needs.
"A team in USL is a key piece of the puzzle," said head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "In the previous years, we didn't have that transitional level to go from the Academy to the first team."
In addition to having played in the PDL in 2014, several players with FC Montreal have also played in MLS reserve league matches over the past two years, including Philippe Lincourt-Joseph, Frederic Lajoie-Gravelle, Fabio Morelli, Charles Joly and Janouk Charbonneau.
Winger Alessandro Riggi, 21, returns to the club after spending three years with the Academy from 2010 to 2012. He represented Canada with the U20s in 2013.
Forward Charles Joly, as well as midfielders Kevin Luarca and Zakaria Messoudi have also played with the Canadian U20 selection, while winger Yacine Ait Slimane was part of the U18 national team.
Three Impact U18 players have also been named to the FC Montreal roster, including goalkeepers David Paulmin and Yann-Alexandre Fillion, as well as midfielder Marco Dominguez, who represented Canada at the U17 FIFA World Cup in 2013.
