FC Dallas News Release
FRISCO, Texas (Feb. 15, 2011) - FC Dallas has traded defender Heath Pearce to Chivas USA for allocation money, the team announced today.
"We appreciate everything Heath did for FC Dallas and wish him the best of luck, but this trade will give us some much needed flexibility with our roster and salary cap for the 2011 season," said FC Dallas technical director Barry Gorman.
FC Dallas claimed Pearce with the top allocation spot on Sept. 15, 2009. In 2010, Pearce finished second on the team in assists with six and earned a spot on the 2010 MLS All-Star team. In slightly more than one season with Dallas, Pearce appeared in 34 games, recording seven assists.
Pearce, who has more than 30 caps with the U.S. National Team, played professionally in Denmark and Germany before joining Dallas. A natural left back, Pearce joined FC Nordsjælland of Denmark after spending three seasons at the University of Portland. The California native played 50 games in two season for the club before switching to German side Hansa Rostock.
