
FC Dallas Preseason Training Begins on January 21

FRISCO, TX (Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009) - FC Dallas announced today that preseason training for the 2009 Major League Soccer campaign will begin on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Pizza Hut Park. Players will start arriving for entrance physicals and fitness testing from Jan. 16-20. FCD is set to begin the season on March 21 with a home game against the Chicago Fire (7:00 p.m. CT).
2009 FC Dallas Preseason Schedule:
Jan. 16 - Domestic based players report for entrance physicals.
Jan. 19 - Internationally based players report for entrance physicals.
Jan. 19 and 20 - Fitness testing at the Michael Johnson Performance Center in McKinney,Texas.
Jan. 21 - First Training Sessions at Pizza Hut Park (10 a.m. and 6 p.m. CT)
Between Jan. 19 and Feb. 21, FC Dallas will train at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, while also working out regularly at the Michael Johnson Performance Center in McKinney, Texas.
The second-phase of preseason training will take place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from Feb. 16-22. FCD then moves on to Curitiba, Brazil, where they will train at the complex of Clube Atletico Paranaense from Feb. 25 to March 6.
Preseason games are being finalized in Florida, Brazil, and upon return to the Dallas-Fort Worth area prior to the start of the season.
FC Dallas has four selections in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft, which takes place on Thursday, Jan. 15 at the St. Louis Convention Center in Missouri (1 p.m. CT, the first hour live on ESPN2). FCD has four total selections in the first two rounds of the Draft: the 5th and 11th in the First Round, and the 3rd and 12th picks in the Second Round (#18 and #27 overall). Dallas does not have any picks in the final two rounds.
