
FC Dallas Names Fans Captain For Opening Day

FRISCO, Texas (March 24, 2010) - When FC Dallas opens the 2010 Major League Soccer season Saturday, March 27, at 3 p.m., the club expects its fans to lead the charge. The first 5,000 fans through the gate on Saturday will receive Captain's Armbands for the battle with in-state rival Houston Dynamo.
Saturday's game, televised live on TeleFutura and Fox Sports Net Southwest, begins the annual rivalry with Houston over El Capitán, an 18th Century cannon awarded yearly to the winner of the regular-season series between the two clubs. Houston currently has possession of the cannon after claiming the 2009 series.
Gates open at 1:30 p.m., with $2 draft beer, $4 margaritas and live music by HyPressure in the Beer Garden until kickoff. Parking is free and tickets start as low as $20. Performers from Freestyle Soccer, recognized as the best freestyle soccer stars in North America, are scheduled to perform at halftime.
