COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Tuesday, April 6, 2010) - The Colorado Rapids Community Relations Department has introduced two new community programs: The "Colorado Rapids Rookie for a Day" and the "Colorado Rapids Community Coach Award". Both programs are presented by Credit Union of Colorado.

"We pride ourselves on serving those who serve Colorado, so we are proud to support the Rapids Rookie for a Day and Community Coach programs," said Doug Schneider, VP of Marketing for Credit Union of Colorado. "This partnership is a perfect fit with our credit union values."

The Rapids Rookie for a Day honors and encourages kids, who may not be straight-A students or all-state athletes, to continue to strive for improvement. Candidates must demonstrate academic achievement, positive attitude, good citizenship, good behavior, and community involvement. Rapids Rookie for a Day recipients receive Rapids merchandise, a visit to a Rapids' practice, tickets to a Rapids' game at Dick's Sporting Goods Park and in-game recognition.

The Rapids Community Coach Award will recognize and reward youth soccer coaches who provide superior levels of leadership both on and off the field. The Rapids value individuals who have made an impact on young soccer players in their community and want to recognize those individuals. Rapids Community Coach Award winners will receive Rapids merchandise, a visit to a Rapids' practice, tickets to a Rapids' game at Dick's Sporting Goods Park with in-game recognition, and a $1,000 grant.
