
FC Dallas Midfielder Ronnie O'Brien Named to 2004 MLS Best XI

Dallas, Tex. - Major League Soccer announced the MLS Best XI for the 2004 MLS season. FC Dallas midfielder was named to the 2004 MLS Best XI squad for his performance with the team last season. The Best XI players in MLS for the 2004 season are awarded by position with one goalkeeper, four defenders, four midfielders and two forwards.
O'Brien, 25, signed a multi-year contract with FC Dallas last week. In 2004 with the Dallas Burn, O'Brien started in all 29 matches he played in with the team and tied for second in MLS in assists (10). Along with leading the team in assists, O'Brien ranked tied for second on the squad in points (14), second in shots (67) and second in shots on goal (30). The Dublin, Ireland native was selected to start in his first MLS All-Star Game in July and was also named MLS Player of the Week after contributing to three Dallas goals on August 28.
In three seasons with Dallas, O'Brien has appeared in 46 matches, tallying five goals and 12 assists for 22 points. He was originally acquired by Dallas after being signed as a Discovery Player on July 12, 2002.

Defenders - Robin Fraser (Columbus Crew), Ryan Nelsen (D.C. United), Eddie Pope (MetroStars), Jimmy Conrad (Kansas City Wizards)
Midfielders - Eddie Gaven (MetroStars), Kerry Zavagnin (Kansas City Wizards), Amado Guevara (MetroStars), Ronnie O'Brien (Dallas Burn)
Forwards - Brian Ching (San Jose Earthquakes), Jaime Moreno (D.C. United)
FC Dallas, a charter member club of Major League Soccer, will begin play in the new 21,193 seat soccer stadium in the spring of 2005. The 117-acre facility will be located at the intersection of Main Street and Dallas North Tollway in Frisco. The Frisco Soccer & Entertainment Center will accommodate Major League Soccer matches, major concerts, international soccer matches and High School football.
