Postgame Quotes:

FC Dallas head coach Luchi Gonzalez

On the win...

I thought, from the first whistle, I thought we were more engaged to get forward, to be vertical, to beat lines. We probably gave up some possession numbers that we would've like to have continued to dominate but we gained, in terms of turning lines and getting numbers forward, getting service, getting shots, getting shots on target.

I was really happy with first goal; it was a great play. I felt we could have put two, a second or a third, even, and that includes the opportunities in the second half to separate more in the game in terms of the score. But we didn't put them away and then Colorado, to their credit, got back into it. But I look at our boys and looking at them in the eyes during the VAR. They kind of knew, they thought it had gone in and they were already thinking about the next moment. They were looking at me like "We got this coach. We're going push this game we're going to push through this game."

That gave me a lot of pride as a coach.

I thought the guys who came off the bench imposed and helped us win this game. Very proud. We've got a big challenge to make the next roster. We've got some big pieces coming back from national team duty and we got guys that took care of business who didn't make the roster. This is a coach's challenge and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Good club victory not just three points but in terms of the model and giving young guys opportunities. It will only get harder. We have train hard to prepare for the next opportunity.

On Pablo's first start...

I though Pablo did very well. He got a little fatigued in the second half, that's why we made the adjustment. (We) felt Jesus had a little bit more energy. But Pablo can have his head up high for a very good performance.

On Zdenek Ondrasek and Thomas Roberts making their MLS Debuts...

Obviously, we realized we were getting Cobra [Zdenek Ondrasek] in. With the VAR decision we want to regain momentum offensively and Thomas is a very creative player. Jesus was working really hard and we wanted some fresh legs, we decided to do the sub together, so we did so to not waste time. Thomas is fearless and he came in and created and gave a great smart pass that led to the goal.

Cobra was hungry. He was mobile. He's got a big personality. He wasn't on the roster the first few games, but this is football, this is life. He didn't stop working hard. He supported his team and he earned the opportunity to be on this roster and took advantage of play that he didn't necessarily put away, but it led to the goal with Ryan.

FC Dallas midfielder Michael Barrios

On scoring a goal in tonight's match...

Happy. We know that we have to score goals and win points in every match. We know that fills one with confidence, so we have to keep working to score more goals. I'm very happy, not just for the goal, but for the three points, the win. We are going to enjoy it and rest and think about what's ahead.

On young players getting playing time...

We knew we were missing two key players in the lineup, however I think we were all prepared from the start to come in and replace a teammate, to work hard to get some playing time and to earn a spot on the roster. Thankfully, the guys played really well. They did what the coaching staff asked from them, what everyone wanted from them and more importantly we were able to get the three points.

On the difference in attack after last week's loss at Columbus...

We know every game is going to be different and our trainings vary by opponent. [Colorado Rapids] were a team that we couldn't break through, we couldn't find space, but in the moments we did we were able to score and get the win. Last week, we had the ball more, but we couldn't find space like we did in this match. It's possible that the formation our coach [Luchi Gonzalez] did today helped us because we had Pablo [Aránguiz] as our attacking midfielder and he had three players he could count on whenever he looked up.

FC Dallas midfielder Pablo Aránguiz

Thoughts on starting the match...

Very happy to get some minutes. I've said this before that I haven't seen a lot of time on the field, but I'm happy for the team's performance and for the win.

Thoughts on facing Colorado following last year's loss on Decision Day...

Last time we faced them, we left with a bad taste in our mouths because they got the win in the last ten minutes. But today we went out there and played our game, were superior and got the result.

FC Dallas forward Jesus Ferreira

Thoughts on his first start of the season...

It was great. I have been working hard for several years now and finally starting to get some playing minutes and getting the opportunity to start today was amazing. The team effort was also unbelievable.

On the advice his dad gave him before the match...

Talked to him before the game and he knew I was going to start. He just said play my game and he knows what I'm capable to do, just go out there and have fun.

On filling in the spots when players leave for international duty...

Those are big pieces for our game, being starting players that play every game, and when they go to international games that's amazing and Luchi [Gonzalez] told us that we have to fill their spots. Everybody's ready and we're ready to start whenever he calls us up.

On having the opportunity to play with players you grew up with in the Academy...

We grew up playing in the Academy together, and it's just amazing to see how we all grew up and being able to make an impact in a game.

FC Dallas forward Zdenek Ondrasek

Thoughts on the game...

The game started pretty well, we did what we wanted to do. They didn't know what to do. But after the goal, I think we gave them too much time. They pushed us a little bit, had some counters.

After the goal for them, we saw that everyone wasn't giving up, everyone wanted to win and we went for it.

On getting his MLS debut...

We knew that it wouldn't be easy because two very important players went to the national team.

It was a good 20 or 15 minutes for me, I'm happy with that. There's still a long way and a lot of work in front of me.

I was very happy with the nomination finally. I got the chance to be here with the guys, to be on the bench. Everyone is waiting for the chance, and I got it finally after three games.

On his transition...

I was happy from the very beginning. Everyone has been very nice since I came here.

It would be maybe a little easier if I had a girlfriend here, but I'm happy that [Dom] Badji doesn't have a girlfriend here because he's spending his time helping me.

FC Dallas defender Ryan Hollingshead

Thoughts on the match...

It was big being back on top after last week. We feel like we're still putting a lot of pieces together in the puzzle of our tactics and our new style of play; so being able to pull out a victory like that even when things don't look pretty at times or there's a fight or struggle that's really good for us as we continue to grow.

Thoughts on scoring the game-winning goal...

I had a good effort earlier when [Dom] Badji headed on down to me and a good effort that Tim [Howard] saved off the line with his big toe. So after that I just started to push for a goal a little more and at the goal I was just at the right place at the right time. The ball just popped right to my feet and I knew the goal was open, so I just passed it in. It wasn't a 'golazo' but it will get us the win.

I felt really good. I feel like I've been in those situations a couple of times already to begin the season so to be able to kind of put one in the back of the net is huge just for confidence and moving forward feeling like I can continue to do that.

Thoughts on the younger players getting a chance to play...

These young guys have had an awesome preseason. A lot of work that they've put in so for them to get rewarded in a game like this is huge. Also that's just the style that Luchi [Gonzalez] is bringing that FC Dallas has always been known for, playing the young kids, by getting back to that identity and giving those guys a shot. You see they step into these games and they do just fine. It was big for us and for them to get those minutes, especially with guys out on international break, they did awesome and I'm proud of those guys.

FC Dallas midfielder Thomas Roberts

On making his MLS debut...

I wasn't really expecting to go in, but I wanted to come in and just make a difference. It was a great experience to come in in front of the fans, as I have never played in front of that many people, and I'm just glad I came in and was able to help the team out.

All my family was here so it was just a great feeling after the game.

Thoughts on tonight's match...

I feel like this game was probably our most meaningful game to be honest in terms of possession. We were possessing it higher up the field more so than in the back and we created a lot of opportunities and could've scored a couple of easy tap-ins, but it was a great fight.

Colorado Rapids head coach Anthony Hudson

Thoughts on tonight's loss...

I think it was a good response when we went a goal down.

I think our biggest frustration from the day was probably the start of the game; that's the area we have to improve, because that's twice we've come away from home and we've started slow and put ourselves behind. We did well to come back, but we can't put ourselves in a position like that.

Thoughts on Tommy Smith's performance...

It was always going to be tough since [Tommy Smith] hadn't played a game in a long time, he hasn't had a full preseason. It didn't look at all like he hadn't been playing. I thought he was a good performer.

Colorado Rapids forward Andre Shinyashiki

Thoughts on the match and on his debut...

I think it was a good performance although we didn't get the result we wanted. The team played well for long stretches of the game. We gave up two goals which makes it hard for us especially on an away game. But overall the team did well, and we should build from it.

On the team's fight in the second half...

We started the second half in a very different way than the first half. In the first half we were very passive by letting them play around us. Then in the second half we kind of stepped on their throats, the goal came we came back, and I thought we were the better team. We gave up an unfortunate second goal and then things went sideways. The team never gave up and kept fighting, I am proud of that.

Colorado Rapids defender Tommy Smith

Getting first few minutes of the season and his goal...

It's great to be back out there, but obviously very disappointed with the result of the match. I knew the ball was in and I was 99% confident it had crossed the line. To be honest I'd give up any goal that I've scored to get three points because it's so disheartening after. We know we started quite slowly today but in the second half we got on top and when we got the equalizer. It felt like we were going to be the team to go on and win but it's a bit of a kick in the teeth it didn't happen for us.

The team's fight and effort in the second half...

We started sloppy and slowly, we need to work on that because it's happened to us a couple times this season already, we need to come out firing really. We recovered well though, especially in the second half. We thought we were right on top and we got the equalizer, it just wasn't meant to be.
