FC Dallas News Release
FRISCO, Texas (Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008) - FC Dallas today traded forward Carlos Ruiz to the Los Angeles Galaxy in exchange for an undisclosed amount of Allocation money and the Galaxy's natural second round pick in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft.
"By completing this trade, we clear up considerable cap space and acquire additional resources to be able to continue improving our roster," said FC Dallas head coach Steve Morrow. "We want to thank Carlos for his leadership and contributions to FC Dallas and wish him well in his future."
Ruiz joined FC Dallas in March 2005 in a trade with the LA Galaxy, with which he had started his MLS career in 2002. In three seasons with FCD, Ruiz scored 31 regular season goals in 68 appearances and added five goals in six playoff games. His 31 regular season goals places second on the all-time team list behind Jason Kreis' 91 goals, while his five playoff goals ties him for first place in team history with Ariel Graziani.
FC Dallas will begin the 2008 season against Chivas USA on Sunday, March 30 at Pizza Hut Park (2 p.m. CT).
