FC Cincinnati News Release
CINCINNATI - FC Cincinnati has completed a loan agreement that has sent midfielder/defender Lance Laing to USL Western Conference club San Antonio FC for the remainder of the 2018 season.
Laing, 30, has appeared in six games - with four starts - for FC Cincinnati in 2018, seeing time at both at left back and left midfield. He started the first three games of the season on the left wing before seeing time at left back the rest of the season. Additionally, he started at left back in the Orange and Blue's second- and third-round U.S. Open Cup matches against Detroit City FC (May 16) and at Pittsburgh Riverhounds FC (May 23). He also missed six games (June 2-30) with a knee injury.
"Injuries and mid-season signings have limited playing opportunities for Lance and at this stage of his career he needs to be on the pitch," FC Cincinnati head coach Alan Koch Said. "We wish him well with his new club and hope that he receives the opportunities that he needs to showcase his abilities."
Laing originally signed with FCC on Dec. 19, 2017 from the NASL's North Carolina FC. A three-time NASL Best XI honoree, Laing also has past stops at Minnesota United in 2016 and Edmonton FC (2013-15). He began his pro career in North America with the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers in 2011, spending two seasons in Florida. Before coming to the U.S., Laing featured for Harbour View and Village United in his native Jamaica.
He has earned 12 caps with the Jamaica National Team, most recently featuring in the country's 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup and CONMEBOL Copa America squads.
FC Cincinnati (16-3-6, 54 pts.) currently sits atop the USL standings with the top point total in the entire league. The team returns to action on Saturday, Aug. 25, when it visits the Tampa Bay Rowdies for a 7:30 p.m. tilt at Al Lang Stadium. The game will be televised on WSTR 64 and streamed on ESPN+.
