FC Cincinnati News Release
CINCINNATI - FC Cincinnati have announced the creation of One Club, One Community, One Goal to advance the organization's commitment to addressing racial disparities and social injustices through action.
"FC Cincinnati are committed to leaving a legacy, creating something bigger than ourselves, and being the embodiment of a rising Cincinnati," FC Cincinnati President Jeff Berding said. "We are proud to introduce these internal and external initiatives as the next steps in our social justice efforts to both improve our organization and help better our greater community."
The One Club, One Community, One Goal platform highlights the action being taken by the club to address inequality and inequity within the Greater Cincinnati community.
FC Cincinnati have implemented staff education and dialogue sessions with Janet Reid of BRBS World, LLC, a global management consortium focused on diversity and inclusion. Reid and her staff have already led dialogue sessions with the FC Cincinnati technical staff and facilitated a dialogue with players and coaches. This fall, FC Cincinnati front office staff will take part in an additional dialogue session.
Additionally, FC Cincinnati are creating a Diversity Forum which will consist of staff, players and fans to encourage open conversation to help guide the club's efforts into the future.
In June, FCC announced that club owners had committed $250,000 toward programs addressing racial disparities. Eight organizations have been identified to receive funding including the African American Chamber of Commerce, Mortar, the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio, High Achievers, The United Way of Greater Cincinnati Black Empowerment Works Fund, Citylink, Cradle Cincinnati and Cincinnati Public School's Speak Up Speak Out.
In an effort to promote greater inclusion in both the club and the sports industry as a whole, FC Cincinnati have created FC Cincinnati Futures: Development Through Sport. This program has been created for high school students to gain firsthand experience by shadowing FC Cincinnati staff members, either at a match or at the club's downtown office.
The program introduces students to working in the sports industry and creates an opportunity for interested candidates to build a network should they pursue a career in sports. The goal of the program is to create a path for interested students to enter the sports industry, but also for FC Cincinnati to be connected to a greater pool of diverse candidates for future job openings.
