November 14, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
FC Cincinnati News Release

FC Cincinnati Foundation opened its seventh mini pitch and the first in Northern Kentucky at Austinburg Park in Covington. The Northern Kentucky community came together to celebrate the opening with a ceremonial ribbon cutting event.

The FC Cincinnati Foundation is pleased to support the Covington community with this investment, which would not have been possible without the generous and full funded support of Carl and Martha Lindner.

The afternoon was highlighted by Eric Castro, a sixth grader at John G. Carlisle, taking a ceremonial first kick along with youth soccer activities for students at Sixth District and John G. Carlisle and the Holmes High School soccer teams. FC Cincinnati players Alec Kann and Matt Miazga and mascot Gary the Lion were also on-site to take part in the afternoon's activities and celebrate the opening of the mini pitch.

Mini pitches are a key focus for FC Cincinnati Foundation as the organization works to improve the lives of children through soccer. Mini pitches provide a safe place for children to learn the game.

Following this opening, FC Cincinnati Foundation is set to open its next mini pitch in Bond Hill in spring 2023.
