Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
FOX CITIES STADIUM -- Jim Fasano's two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning snapped a 2-2 tie and led the Clinton LumberKings to a 4-2 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers Saturday afternoon. Kevin Altman got the win with four innings of hitless, scoreless relief in which he struck out seven Rattler batters. Clinton padded their Midwest League Western Division lead over the Rattlers to three games with the win.
Rattler starting pitcher Aaron Jensen retired the first ten batters he faced before allowing an infield single to Brandon Cashman in the top of the fourth. Coughlan stole second with two outs and scored on single to left by Adam Fox.
Wisconsin (23-19) bounced back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Yung Chi Chen doubled home Mike Wilson to tie the game. Rob Johnson singled in Chen to put the Rattlers in front. That single by Johnson was the last hit the Rattlers had in the game.
Clinton (26-16) tied the game with an RBI single by Emerson Frostad in the top of the seventh inning off Jensen.
Chad Fillinger got the first out of the top of the eighth inning, but issued a walked to Cameron Coughlan. Coughlan stole second and moved to third on an infield ground out. The Rattlers went to the bullpen and brought in lefty Eric O'Flaherty to face the left hand hitting Fasano. The percentage play went against the Rattlers when Fasano drilled a 1-1 pitch to the right of the batter's eye in center field for a two-run homer and a 4-2 LumberKing lead.
Altman pitched a 1-2-3 eighth and a 1-2-3 ninth to collect the win.
The final game of the four game series is Sunday afternoon. Jason Snyder (4-4, 3.31ERA) is the scheduled starter for Wisconsin. Clinton will send Michael Schlact (3-1, 4.40ERA) to the mound. Game time is 1:05pm.
