USHL Fargo Force

Fargo Falls in Thrilling Fight to the Finish

November 21, 2020 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Fargo Force News Release

In their second game of the weekend the Force looked to build on their 3 game winning streak to open the season. Tonight's game against the Tri-City Storm got off to a much slower start than last night's competition, with only one goal scored in the first. It came only a minute into the first period from Caden Villegas of the Tri-City Storm. Shots on goal were low for both teams after one with only two SOG's from Fargo and six from Tri-City. While both teams had power-play opportunities, neither could capitalize.

The second period was an action packed 20 minutes. Fargo started off the excitement with a goal scored early in the second. It came from forward Tristan Broz on a breakaway. Broz was sent into the clear on a brilliant stretch pass by defenseman Ryan Siedem. However, it wasn't long before the Storm answered back with a goal of their own. After a holding penalty against a Force defender, the Storm capitalized on their man advantage scoring in the last ten seconds of the power-play. The second period ended with the Storm ahead 2-1.

The Force had a big chance early in the third as they had a 5 on 3 power-play. However a quick penalty by the visitors & good penalty killing by Tri-City kept them off the board. The rest of the third was scoreless until the final few seconds of the game. With the goalie pulled, Mason Salquist tied it up with only 17 seconds remaining, sending the teams into a 3 on 3 overtime.

Unfortunately the OT was short lived as Tri-City scored early on a rebound to make the Final score 3-2. With the point earned for the OT loss, the Force saw their record drop to 3-0-1 on the season. Fargo looks for redemption tomorrow afternoon as they finish off their Nebraska weekend with a 4:05 puck drop in Omaha.
