Fans Have a Chance to Win a Date with Dayton Gems Player Kyle Bochek
February 8, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Dayton Gems News Release
DAYTON, OH - When Dayton Gems forward Kyle Bochek was summoned into Head Coach Brian Gratz's office last week, he had no idea what was going to be said to him.
When he emerged, Bochek had a smile from ear to ear. He is the first Gems player to participate in the "Win a Date with a Gems Player," auction.
"He (Gratz) said the front office was looking to set me up on a date for Valentine's Day and if I would be willing to do it," said Bochek. "After he gave me the details, I said 'Sign me up!'"
This is the first time the Gems have ever auctioned off a player to go on a date with a fan. The auction started on Tuesday, Feb. 8, and will end on Sunday, Feb. 14. The date will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 15, the day after Valentine's Day.
The highest bidder will be picked up by a limousine from Beats Feet Limousine out of Dayton. Bochek will emerge from the limo with a bouquet of flowers from Furst Florist and present them to the winner at the front door.
The two will then leave for Spaghetti Warehouse on West 5th Street and have dinner at 6:30 p.m. At the conclusion of the meal, the two will then go to RiverScape MetroPark in downtown Dayton where they will go ice skating under the stars before concluding the date for the evening.
Fans interested in going on a date with Bochek can place their bid on e-bay by visiting http://tinyurl.com/4ftkq9y. The bidding started at $50.
In compliance with the CHL public appearance policy, the winning fan must live within 20 miles of Hara Arena in order to be picked up for the date. Two staff members from the Dayton Gems front office will also be taking pictures of the evening's events.
A portion of the proceeds from the auction will go toward the Noble Circle Project of Dayton and the Women's Wellness Fund at the Kettering Medical Center . The Noble Circle Project provides information about healing alternatives for women with cancer and offers healing retreats and programs. The Women's Wellness Fund makes it possible for women in our community who lack the monetary funds for medical treatment to receive mammograms, breast ultrasounds, prostheses and prosthetic apparel.
The Kettering Medical Center is proud to be the official title sponsor of the Gems for the 2010-11 season.
