(12/02/02) The Laredo Bucks and the Austin Ice Bats entertained more than 15,000 fans over two nights at a packed Laredo Entertainment Center. The two teams split a pair of exciting, competitive battles Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the Ice Bats defeated the Bucks 3-2 thanks to Darryl McArthur's deciding goal early in the third period. The game marked the Bucks' first-ever loss on home ice after five wins. On Saturday, the Bucks shot back. Tom Kotsopoulos and Michel Periard scored goals and goaltender Lance Leslie made 33 saves in a 2-1 Bucks victory. The Bucks (11-6-2) trail the first-place Bats by seven points in the Southeast Division of the Central Hockey League.

The Bucks remain the highest-scoring team in the CHL, averaging four goals per game. Left wing Eric Schneider leads the league with 33 points, and he leads the Bucks with a +6 in the plus/minus category. Michel Periard leads all defensemen with eight goals. In goal, Lance Leslie is 8-4-2 with a 2.89 goals-against average.
