Saskatoon, SK - The Saskatchewan Rush are thrilled to announce they have signed veteran defender Kyle Rubisch to a 1-year contract.

"We are very pleased to have Kyle Rubisch back for his 12th season with the Rush," says general manager Derek Keenan. "Rubes is the best defender in league history, and I don't think anyone would argue that. He had another All-Pro season in '22 as once again he was a menace on opposing offenses. With the Rush in the midst of transitioning to the younger core group on the backend it's a bonus to not only have him around to continue to produce but to also mentor the young guys!"

The Brampton, ON product was drafted 2nd overall into the league to the Boston Blazers in the 2010 NLL Entry Draft. The next season Rubisch moved to the Rush following the 2011 Dispersal Draft where GMs choose players from teams that are ceasing operations. The 6-foot-2 defender has played 181 games, 165 of those played with the Rush.

The right-shot veteran is a four-time Defensive Player of the Year, six-time All-League First Team, and two-time All-League Second Team. Kyle also played a key role in helping the Rush on their championship wins in 2015, 2016 and 2018.

This past season, Rubisch showed his defensive skills putting up 148 loose balls and 36 caused turnovers. He also tacked on two goals and three assists in 18 games played.
