Glens Falls Dragons News Release
The Williams family prides the Golden Eagles organization as being a close knit family. Recently we lost a member of that family.
A natural athlete, Justin developed a passion for the game of baseball starting when he was six years old. He played on various baseball teams throughout the years primarily as a catcher. In High School he was Captain of his baseball team, the pinnacle of his High School career being that of winning the Union County Championship in 2006. He went on to playing collegiate baseball at Rutgers University on an Athletic Scholarship.
In 2010 the Glens Falls Golden Eagles added Justin to their roster as a catcher and turned out to be a fantastic player and person. Justin was a teammate of current Golden Eagle coach David Olson during the summer of 2010. Justin Olsen batted .229 in 48 at bats with the Eagles and 5 RBI before an injury cut his season short. His 2010 Golden Eagles team would finish the season at 22-20, good enough to make the playoffs. That season the Eagles defeated the Oneonta Outlaws in the first round before being defeated by the Amsterdam Mohawks in the East Division Championship.
Although Justin's time here in Glens Falls was a short one he was beloved by everyone that came in contact with him. He was a great teammate, a fierce competitor and a gentle giant.
His trip around the base paths of life was a short one but the echo of his bat will ring forever in our hearts.
