Amsterdam Mohawks News Release
AMSTERDAM "" The Mohawks and Golden Eagles played each other for the third time in five days, and the Mohawks came away with the win for the third time, 12-6. Amsterdam outscored Glens Falls 25-6 in the three games they have played recently.
Kevin Guthrie (Brown) started on the mound for the "ËHawks and lasted two and two-thirds of an inning. Guthrie ran into trouble in the third. A Shelby throwing error prolonged the inning. Then a J.Q. Folena single to right allowed two runs to score, however both were unearned.
Those two runs for the Golden Eagles proved meaningless as the Mohawks put up three in the second, four in the third, two in each the fourth and sixth, as well as one in the fifth. Along with Shelby's hitting prowess, Jonathon Pryor (Wake Forest) went 2-4 with three RBI, including his league-leading eighth double. Shelby's two doubles also moved him into the lead with Pryor.
