Springfield, MA - Charles Linglet scored two goals, and Devan Dubnyk made 32 saves, Saturday night at the MassMutual Center, as the Springfield Falcons handed the Hartford Wolf Pack their second straight defeat, 2-1.

The Wolf Pack lost despite outshooting the Falcons 33-14, including 17-4 in the third period. Micheal Sauer had the only Wolf Pack goal, a third-period shorthander.

The loss snapped a streak of eight straight wins against the Falcons for Hartford. The Wolf Pack were 5-0-0-0 in Springfield last season.

The Wolf Pack had the edge in play in the first period, outshooting Springfield 10-6, but could not get anything by Dubnyk, whom they touched up for seven goals on 43 shots in a 7-3 win over Springfield the previous Saturday in Hartford.

The Falcons opened the scoring at the 57-second mark of the second period, on Linglet's second goal of the season . The Wolf Pack's Dale Weise failed to get the puck out of the defensive zone on right wing, with former Wolf Pack Chad Wiseman knocking the puck down. Wiseman fed Linglet, who was all alone behind the Wolf Pack defense, and Linglet beat Wolf Pack goaltender Miika Wiikman, making his first appearance of the season, between the legs.

The rest of the second was scoreless, and Linglet gave Springfield a 2-0 advantage 8:33 of the third period. Colton Fretter, just out of the penalty box, passed the puck to Linglet at the left-wing side of the crease, and Linglet's flip hit Sauer's stick, went off of Wiikman and into the net.

The Pack responded just 1:29 later at 10:02, while shorthanded. Jordan Owens dug the puck out of the left-wing corner and handed it to Paul Crowder in the slot. Crowder found Sauer at the top of the right circle, and Sauer unloaded a hard shot that Dubnyk got a piece of with his blocker but could not stop. That was the Wolf Pack's third shorthanded tally in six games on the season.

Hartford exerted furious pressure in the final minute-and-a-half with Wiikman pulled for an extra attacker, but could not get anything further past Dubnyk.

The loss dropped the Wolf Pack's record to 2-4-0-0 on the season, and they are off until Friday night, when they travel to Adirondack for a 7:30 game. Back-to-back home games at the XL Center follow that, Saturday vs. the Lowell Devils at 7:00 and Sunday against the Worcester Sharks at 3:00.
