Falcons Receive Three From Blue Jackets

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced on Thursday that they have received three players from their NHL affiliate, the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Forward Sean Collins has been assigned to the Falcons by the Blue Jackets. Collins, 24, has 22 points (8g-14a) in 56 games with Springfield this season and is scoreless in five contests with Columbus. A rookie from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Collins has posted 27 points (9g-18a) in 64-career AHL games. He was taken by Columbus in the seventh round (187th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Defenseman Blake Parlett has joined the Falcons as part of a Wednesday trade that saw the Blue Jackets acquire forward Marian Gaborik from the New York Rangers. Parlett, 23, has 28 points (6g-22a) in 67 games with the Connecticut Whale in 2012-2013. In 146-career AHL games, Parlett, a third-year pro, has collected 54 points (12g-42a). A native of Bracebridge, Ontario, Parlett has accumulated 39 points (8g-31a) in 58-career ECHL outings with the Greenville Road Warriors.

Goaltender Patrick Killeen was assigned by Columbus to Springfield following his acquisition on Wednesday by the Blue Jackets from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for future considerations. Killeen, 22, played in 35 games this season between the ECHL's Orlando Solar Bears and Wheeling Nailers, recording a 10-13-7 mark with a .889 save percentage and a 3.42 goals-against average. In 111-career ECHL outings, Killeen is 48-41-13 with a .895 save percentage and a 2.98 goals-against average. Killeen, from Carp, Ontario, was selected by Pittsburgh in the sixth round (180th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He has appeared in seven AHL games during his career with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, going 2-2-0 with a .862 save percentage and a 3.16 goals-against average.

The Falcons venture to Connecticut this Friday to begin a four-game road stretch. Springfield then heads to Worcester on Saturday and Portland on Sunday. After playing at Adirondack on Friday, Apr. 12, the Falcons return home for Fan Appreciation Weekend, hosting Providence on Saturday, Apr. 13, and Connecticut on Sunday, Apr. 14.
