Falcons Re-Sign Luke Curtin

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that the team has re-signed veteran left wing Luke Curtin for the 2007-08 season. The 30-year-old enters his third season in Fresno, and his 10th as a pro.

Last season, Curtin led the Falcons in scoring with 74 points, despite playing in just 55 games, and reached the 20-goal plateau for the seventh time in his nine professional seasons. He also was named to the ECHL All-Star Game for the third consecutive season, and for the fifth time overall in his career, which is the second most in league history.

In his first season with the Falcons in 2005-06, Curtin tallied 21 goals and added 61 assists for 82 points in 64 games, and was runner-up for the league's Most Valuable Player Award. Curtin did take home MVP honors at the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game held at Save Mart Center after scoring two goals in the National Conference's 7-6 win.

"I think I speak for all of us when I say Luke puts us over the edge," Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Matt Thomas said. "His presence as a premier forward will give us that offensive weapon that every championship team needs. He is focused on one thing, winning a championship, and we are delighted to add him for another season."

In 441 career ECHL games, Curtin has tallied 523 points, which is tied for 20th place on the league's all-time scoring list, and he ranks 15th in league history in assists with 342. Overall in 534 career professional games, Curtin has registered 209 goals and added 383 assists for 592 points.

The Falcons open the 2007-08 season on Friday, October 19, hosting the Las Vegas Wranglers at 7:30 p.m. for an Opening Night Extravaganza, presented by Eye Q Vision Care. The first 1,000 kids 12 and under receive a replica Luke Curtin Falcons' jersey. Opening Night is also "Soccer Night in Fresno" and "Rally Around Citizens With Disabilities Night."
