Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons cashed in eight power-play goals to take Game Two of the Conference Quarterinals, 9-3, over the Bakersfield Condors Thursday night, in front of 2,551 at Save Mart Center. The win puts Fresno up 2- 0 in the best-of-seven series.
Just like in Game One, Fresno jumped on the Condors at the outset, scoring the first two goals of the game, at 9:42 and 12:13. Once again, it was the line of Luke Curtin, John Morlang and Rob McFeeters. Curtin got the first one, sliding in McFeeters centering pass, and Morlang the second, tipping a drive by Dustin VanBallegooie through his own legs and past Jamie Hodson to make it 2- 0.
It didn't get any better early in the second, as Fresno scored three more goals, all on the power play, as Stuart MacRae, Morlang and John Wrobleski scored in the span of 3:56 to push the margin to 5-0.
Bakersfield got on the board at 7:24, when Steve Rodberg converted a pretty cross-ice pass from Brett Lutes to cut the deficit to 5-1.
But another penalty late in the session left the Condors shorthanded again, and Cory Murphy made them pay when he slapped one past Rejean Beauchemin, who had replaced Hodson in goal to up the lead to 6-1.
Andrew Ianiero scored twice in the third period, at 1:52 and 14:19, but Brady Leisenring, Lucas Lawson and McFeeters scored with the man advantage to set the final score.
Notes: The Condors lead the ECHL in playoff attendance with an average of 4,209 fans.
Game 3 will be back at The Nest on Friday the 13th at 7 p.m., featuring a special Goalie Mask Giveaway. All fans will receive a Jamie Hodson replica goalie mask courtesy of KGET-TV 17 and Goodwill Industries, and are encouraged to wear black to BLACKOUT the Falcons.
