The Springfield Falcons finish off a three-in-three stretch when they welcome the Connecticut Whale to the MassMutual Center at 3:00 p.m. On Saturday night, the Falcons rallied from two goals down to earn a point in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Manchester Monarchs. Jake Hansen recorded his first professional goal to kickstart Springfield's comeback bid, while Cam Atkinson posted his team-best eighth tally of the season in the third period to push the contest into overtime. Springfield maintained its position atop the Eastern Conference following Saturday's action and is now tied with the Syracuse Crunch for the top spot.
The Falcons have outscored the Whale 12-2 in the first two games between the clubs this season. Tim Erixon has dominated his former team in the initial pair of meetings in 2012-2013, scoring three goals and adding three assists for six points. Jonathan Audy-Marchessault has had success versus his 2011-2012 squad as well, collecting a goal and three assists for four points.
Single-game tickets to see the Falcons in 2012-2013 can be purchased at the MassMutual Center Box Office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. through game time on Saturday home dates, and starting four hours prior to Sunday home contests. HANSEN HEATS UP
In notching his first professional goal on Saturday, rookie Jake Hansen generated the first point streak of his career. Hansen has contributed offensively in three-straight games (1g-2a) and became the 18th Falcon to score a goal this season last night.
SAVARD'S STREAK AT SIX
David Savard increased his team-best point streak to six games (2g-5a) with an assist on Cam Atkinson's tying goal on Saturday.
BATTLING BACK
Last night's game marked the first time this season that the Falcons earned at least a point after facing a deficit entering the third period. Springfield is now 0-2-0-1 when trailing after 40 minutes.
A PAIR OF MILESTONES
Today's game marks the 100th pro contest for Cam Atkinson and the 600th AHL outing for Ryan Craig.
