Springfield Falcons News Release

The Springfield Falcons concluded their weekend road trip in Hershey, PA on Sunday and earned a point on the road as they dropped a 2-1 decision to the Bears in overtime. Former Falcon Ryan Potulny netted the game-winner on the power play just 22 seconds into overtime, while Falcons forward Alexandre Giroux scored for the Falcons, his 100th career goal at the Giant Center.

Sunday's game was a return to Hershey for Giroux, Andrew Joudrey and Greg Amadio, all three players helped the Bears to Calder Cup Championships from 2008-2010. All three players were greeted with a very nice welcome from the hometown fans before the game.

"It was very humbling receiving the nice ovation," said Joudrey. "It was nice to see a lot of the people, but at the end of the day we wanted to win a hockey game and I thought we competed very hard tonight."

The Falcons opened the game strong as Giroux netted his 21st marker of the year at 17:45 of the first period giving Springfield a 1-0 lead.

The Falcons held their lead into the second period, but at 2:29 of the middle frame, Hershey's Matt Pope converted evening the score at 1-1.

The game remained deadlocked into the third period where each team had power play chances to net the go-ahead goal. In the extra frame, Potulny one-timed a Chris Bourque pass behind Paul Dainton sending the Falcons home with one point.
