Falcon Shuts Down Colts

EDINBURG, Texas - Ryan Falcon pitched a complete game shutout leading the Edinburg Roadrunners to a 10-0 victory over the San Angelo Colts Saturday night in front of 3,121 at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

Falcon (4-0) scattered five hits with one walk while striking out four for his fourth win of the season.

The Roadrunners (36-52) jumped out to the early lead in the bottom of the first. With runners on second and third, Osiel Flores hit a two-run double down the right field line scoring Antonio De Jesus and Stantrel Smith for a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second, Edinburg batted around and scored five runs on three hits extending their lead 7-0.

Stantrel Smith led off the bottom of the fourth with a single and then stole second. With two outs, Robert Matlock hit an RBI single to center field scoring Smith from second and making it 8-0.

A fielding error in the bottom of the sixth allowed De Jesus to score pushing the Roadrunners lead 9-0.

In the bottom of the eighth, Smith, who went 5-for-5, reached on a single and then moved to second after a walk to Flores. Matlock then followed with an RBI single to left field scoring Smith from second and making it 10-0.

The Roadrunners and Colts (52-35) will wrap up the regular season Sunday evening at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Jose Pablo Oyervidez (2-1) is expected to face Alfredo Caballero (0-2) with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
