BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Bloomington Extreme defensive back Terrill Mayberry has been selected by the United Indoor Football League as its Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 49-23 East Conference victory at RiverCity, it was announced by the league office Wednesday.

Mayberry led the Extreme with seven solo tackles and one assist for 7.5 defensive points. He also intercepted a pass and broke up two other passes.

"Terrill was all over the field," said Extreme coach Ted Schmitz, whose team won a franchise record third straight game to even its overall record at 3-3. "I knew he had a good game and was a key factor, but I didn't know just how much until I watched the game tape."

Mayberry's first interception of the season came midway through the first quarter at the Extreme 8-yard line to stop a RiverCity drive and set up the Extreme's go-ahead touchdown with 2:06 remaining in the opening quarter.

Following the interception, the Extreme drove 40 yards in seven plays to take a 14-6 lead on a 1-yard run by quarterback Dusty Burk.

Mayberry's two pass break-ups gave him a league-leading 14 in six games for a 2.33 per game average. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound graduate of Bowling Green University ranks ninth in the UIF in tackles with 32.5 (20 solos, 25 assists) for a 5.4 per game average.
