Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Kurtiss Riggs Show will return to Gateway Lounge for tonight's LIVE broadcast of the program. The show is broadcast LIVE every Wednesday before home games from Gateway Lounge, which is located just off of 41st St. behind Carmike Theatre. The program is LIVE from 5:30-6:45 PM and this week will feature 2006 UIF Defensive Player of the Year Nate Fluit and Storm Defensive Coordinator Mike Aldrich.
The show is aired on AM 1230 KWSN every Wednesday and can also be heard by visiting www.kwsn.com. Storm Head Coach Kurtiss Riggs and "The Voice of the Storm" Rich Roste will review last Saturday's 49-20 victory over the Colorado Ice. The win marked the 26th consecutive victory for the Storm, which is one win shy of tying the professional football record for consecutive victories. Riggs and Roste will preview this Saturday's clash vs. the Sioux City Bandits.
Nate Fluit will be making his first appearance on the show this season. Fluit set a UIF and Storm record for sacks in a season in 2006 as he compiled 15.5 in the regular season. Fluit has got off to a great start in 2007 as he has a league leading total of 8.5 sacks. Fluit is the Storm's all-time leader in sacks as he recorded 54.5 in his four-plus seasons with the team.
Aldrich is in his sixth season with the Storm and has served as head coach and defensive coordinator during his time with the team. Aldrich was head coach for the Sioux Falls Cobras of the former IFL in 2000 and the Storm's head coach in 2001 and 2002 before taking a job as Defensive Graduate Assistant at the University of Louisville. In his tenure as head coach, the Storm went 18-15 and made an appearance in the Conference Championship Game in 2001. Aldrich returned to the Storm in 2005 and took over the Defensive Coordinator position midway through the 2005 campaign. In 2006, Mike's defense ranked #1 in points allowed and #2 in yards allowed in the UIF. Mike is also the Defensive Coordinator and Secondary Coach at Augustana College.
The Sioux City Bandits will be the next victim to enter the "Storm Shelter" on Saturday May 12. The game theme will be "Irish Night." Individual tickets can be obtained by visiting the Arena Box Office or any Ticketmaster outlet. Join "The Biggest Show in Town" as the Storm look for three championships in a row in 2007.
