
BlueCats Sign Three Players During Bye Week

EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats are pleased to announce the signing of 3 players who have joined the team in the past week. The players include wide receiver Carlo Heard, defensive back JR Webber, and offensive lineman Jon Penrod.
Carlo Heard is a 6' 4" 235 pound wide receiver who is returning to Evansville after previously playing for the BlueCats in 2004. Back in 2004, Heard appeared in 3 games and recorded pass receptions in 2 of those games. In those two games, he recorded 6 catches for 73 yards and 2 touchdowns, and one two-point conversion reception. Since the 2004 season, he has been busy playing indoor football in other leagues. He attended South Carolina State University where he caught 8 passes for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns as a senior in 2001.
J.R. Webber attended Murray State University where he was the leading tackler for the Racers last fall. Webber made 106 tackles last season, including 8.5 tackles for loss and 2 interceptions as the starting free safety. He was a four-year letterman at Wichita Heights High School, where his team was nationally ranked during his junior and senior seasons. His team went 12-0 in 2003 and 11-1 in 2004, finishing ranked second in the nation. He was a three-time All-Wichita City selection and collected nearly 650 tackles in his high school career.
Offensive lineman Jon Penrod attended Palomar Community College in California before transferring to Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He checks in at 6' 5" 310 pounds. He earned All-league and All-valley honors at Palomar.
