Wilmington Blue Rocks News Release
Wilmington, DE - The Wilmington Blue Rocks, Advanced Class-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, will host Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Volunteer Appreciation Night at their 6:35 p.m. home game on Monday, April 14 at Frawley Stadium.
The pre-game ceremony is designed to honor everyone who donated their time, money and services, as well as the city of Wilmington, Anderson Homes and the contractors who stepped up to make the Extreme Makeover project possible.
The first 300 people who participated in the project that arrive at the Blue Rocks ticket window between now and Monday's game wearing their official blue EMHE volunteer shirt will receive two free tickets for the evening's game.
Scheduled for the evening's festivities is the unveiling and viewing of a behind-the-scenes video that includes footage of Delaware and the building process not shown during the March 30 airing of the popular ABC television program. Clips from the video are slated to run at 5:40 p.m., so fans are encouraged to arrive early. Additional clips of the video as well as time-lapse photography of the build and photos from the Makeover will also be shown throughout the game.
The Latif family, one of the two Wilmington families who had a brand-new home built for them by volunteers, will be in attendance to throw out a ceremonial first pitch, as well as receive Blue Rocks 2008 season tickets on behalf of the Blue Rocks organization.
Steve Anderson from the Middletown, DE-based Anderson Homes, who stepped up to build the home for the Latif family, will also throw out a first pitch.
Volunteers who participated in the Extreme Makeover project are encouraged to wear their volunteer shirts, construction helmets and any other related gear to the game. Any pictures or stories are also welcomed and encouraged.
