Extreme Announce Assistant Coaches and Front Office Staff

BLOOMINGTON (Ill.) - Bloomington Extreme Head Coach Mike Murray has selected the coaching staff for the 2011 Bloomington Extreme season, while the organization has finalized its front office staff.

Mike Murray, introduced as the Extreme's Head Coach on October 4, 2010, will also assume the role of Defensive Coordinator. John Johnson has been named Assistant Head Coach and will serve as the Extreme's Special Teams Coordinator and WR's Coach. Dusty Burk will be the Offensive Coordinator, while Nick Ruud will continue as the Offensive Line Coach. Frank West will serve as the Extreme's Strength and Conditioning Coach and Defensive Backs Coach.

Assistant Head Coach, Special Teams Coordinator, and Wide Receivers Coach, John Johnson, will be entering his third season as a member of the Bloomington Extreme Coaching Staff. Johnson began his coaching career with the NFL's Green Bay Packers, serving as a Special Teams Assistant for four years under Head Coach, Mike Holmgren. Johnson then spent 9 years as the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, KY. Johnson then became the Special Teams Coordinator for the Peoria Pirates of the AF2 for 3 seasons which included their Arena Cup runners up season in 2005.

Dusty Burk, who took over midway through the 2010 season as the Extreme Offensive Coordinator will remain in that position. Burk had been the Extreme starting quarterback during the Extreme's first four seasons and was named the 2007 UIF All-Star Game MVP. Burk, who is the Head Football Coach at University High School in Normal, IL, spent time at Illinois State University and Truman State University as a quarterback prior to playing professionally for the Omaha Beef and the Bloomington Extreme. Dusty has spent time as an assistant coach focusing on quarterbacks and wide receivers at Eureka College, Illinois Wesleyan University, and Tuscola High School.

Nick Ruud enters his third season with the Bloomington Extreme as Offensive Line Coach. Ruud is also an offensive assistant at Illinois Wesleyan University. The native of Moline, IL, played offensive line at Truman State University prior to playing two seasons with the Bloomington Extreme.

Frank West will return for his sixth season as a member of the Bloomington Extreme coaching staff. West will serve as the Extreme Strength and Conditioning Coach as well as Defensive Backs Coach. West was a standout Defensive Back at Illinois State University who played professionally in Canada and in the Arena Football League with the Peoria Pirates. West was a member of the Canadian League Grey Cup Championship Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 1999.

"With the desire to keep as much continuity and consistency from the end of last season, keeping many of the parts together was a high priority as we put together our staff", commented Head Coach Mike Murray. "This is a very knowledgeable and talented group of coaches, and more importantly, they are all quality individuals that all possess the strong desire to succeed as active members in our community."

The Bloomington Extreme are also pleased to announce the additions of three new hiring's to round out the front office staff. Mike Lofboom, Kyle Myers, and Dan Souder join the Bloomington Extreme as Account Executives, focusing on season and group ticket sales. These three will join General Manager, Beau Bradle, Personnel Director, Ted Schmitz, and Graduate Assistant and Game Operations Coordinator, Tony Margherio in the Extreme Front Office.

Mike Lofboom is a graduate of St. John's University in Collegeville, MN, where he was a member of the 2003 St. John's National Champion football team. Mike was a captain for the SJU football team and a three-time All-Conference selection. Mike joins the Extreme following his time as a Sales Representative for Arthrex Orthopedic Solutions.

Kyle Myers, a Bloomington-Normal native and Normal Community West High School graduate, attended college at Illinois State University. Kyle previously worked for State Farm Insurance in Murphreesboro, TN as a Sales Representative/Claims Reviewer.

Dan Souder is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL. As a player at Illinois Wesleyan, Dan was voted team captain and was 2nd Team CCIW All-Conference selection two consecutive years. Dan, a native of Elk Grove Village, IL, joins the Extreme after serving as an Account Executive for Life Quotes, Inc. located in Darien, Illinois.
