Reno Silver Sox News Release

The Silver Sox lost Wednesday by a final of 9-8 in extra innings to the Orange County Flyers.

The Sox jumped on Orange County starter Reed Dickert quickly, scoring six runs in the 1.2 innings he pitched. Three of these runs came when LF Kane Simmons hit his league leading 13th home run of the year in the first inning.

Chris Saenz made his Silver Sox debut starting the game on the mound. The right-hander pitched four innings allowing six runs on seven hits.

C Mashai Chikazawa hit his fourth home run of the year in the fifth inning off of Flyer reliever Mike Woolery.

The Sox led throughout the vast majority of the game, but 3B Brett Thomas knocked a run in the seventh inning tying the game at 8.

Reno had its chances in the ninth inning, bringing DH Juan Senreiso to the plate with runners at second and third with one out. But Flyer reliever Trevor Caughey struck out Senreiso. 1B Jose Rodriguez was then intentionally walked so the lefty Caughey could face the lefty Simmons with two outs. Caughey also struck out Simmons and the Sox left the bases loaded.

Adam Harendza came into the game for Reno in the ninth, striking out three in a row. Then in the tenth inning 2B David Bacani led off against Harendza and was hit by a pitch. Bacani scored on a walk-off RBI single by LF Rich Pohle and the Flyers took game two of the series.

Game three of this series can be heard Thursday night on ESPN Radio 630.

The Sox return home Friday to battle the Long Beach Armada in Reno.
