Flyers win it in 10th

In a high scoring affair, the Flyers got a game-winning single to complete their comeback after a rough start to get the victory, 9-8, in 10 innings...

Flyers LF Rich Pohle was the hero of the night as his single to right with no outs in the 10th inning clinched the comeback win for the Flyers, who got down by 6 runs early, but rallied to get their 4th victory in a row, and again top the Reno Silver Sox, 9-8, on Wednesday night at Goodwin Field in Fullerton.

The Silver Sox jumped all over Flyer starting pitcher Reed Dickert (4-3) early, scoring 5 runs in the 1st inning, led by LF Kane Simmons 3-run blast over the right field wall for his league-leading 13th home run of the season, and adding another run on a 1B Jose Rodriquez RBI single to right that chased Dickert from the game and gave the Silver Sox a 6-0 lead after 2 innings.

Dickert lasted only 1.2 innings, giving up 6 earned runs on 5 hits and 3 walks, before giving way for reliever Mike Woolery (0-0). Woolery, in his 1st appearance for the Flyers, pitched a solid 5.1 innings, while giving up only 1 earned run on 3 hits and 6 strikeouts, to keep the Flyers within striking distance.

Flyers' SS Bret Levier got the Flyers on the board in the 2nd with a bases loaded, 2-out, 2-run RBI single up the middle to close the Silver Sox lead to 6-3.

The Flyers finally caught the Silver Sox in the 7th on 3B Brett Thomas' RBI single to left that left the game tied at 8-8.

The game remained tied until the 10th when Flyer 2B David Bacani led-off the inning by getting HBP, SS Bret Levier followed with a walk, and then Pohle ripped the game-winning single to right to score Bacani and give the Flyers the win.

Pohle went 2-6 with the game-winning RBI on the night and Thomas went 3-5 with 3 RBIs and a run scored in only his 2nd pro game for the Flyers.

The Flyers improved to 27-25 on the season and 8-6 in the 2nd half, while winning their 4th in a row. They continue with the last game of their 3-game set against the Reno Silver Sox tomorrow at 7:05 at Goodwin Field.
