
Extra Inning Errors Cost Suns in Sunday Loss

Jacksonville, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns (56-44, 16-14) committed two errors in the tenth inning contributing to three runs that gave the Huntsville Stars (49-51, 16-14) a 4-1 win in front of 2,195 Sunday at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Stars reliever Jim Henderson (4-2) picked up the winning decision, pitching two hitless relief frames. Suns reliever Garrett Parcell (4-7) fell in the losing decision after being charged with three runs, one earned, in the tenth inning.
Huntsville opened the scoring in the fourth inning against Suns starter Elih Villanueva. Zelous Wheeler led off with a single, stole second base and moved to third on a Chris Nowak hit-by-pitch and Taylor Green walk. Villanueva dealt a wild pitch to score Wheeler for a 1-0 Stars lead.
The Suns tied the game against starter Chris Cody in the seventh inning. With one out Matt Dominguez singled to centerfield, moved to second on a Ryan Curry single and to third on a Brandon Tripp hit-by-pitch. John Otness next hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score Dominguez for a 1-1 deadlock.
The Stars took advantage of Jacksonville mistakes for the 10th inning lead. Patrick Arlis led off with an infield single before a Henderson sacrifice bunt moved him to second base. Brett Lawrie's infield single moved to Arlis to third base with one out. Caleb Gindl next hit a ground ball to first baseman Vinny Rottino, and Arlis scored when Rottino's throw sailed high, giving Huntsville a 2-1 lead.
After the runners at first and second stole second and third base, Zelous Wheeler hit a ground ball to drawn in shortstop Ozzie Martinez who threw wild over the catcher, allowing both runners to score for a 4-1 score.
Suns LH Andrew Miller will face Stars RH Wily Peralta in the final game of the series Monday at 7:05 p.m. Monday is Clay County Night at the Baseball Grounds and Belly Buster Monday. Tickets are available through the Suns box office at 358-2846 or by visiting jaxsuns.com.
