Round Rock Express News Release
HOULTON-ROCK SOLID: The Round Rock Express pitching staff has been searching for an identity all year, especially an ace. Thursday night, D.J. Houlton took another step towards claiming that role. Houlton threw the first complete game shutout and the Express bats provided him with plenty of support to roll by the Midland RockHounds, 8-0, in front of 9,667 at The Dell Diamond.
PORTER GETS THE CALL: Houston Astros General Manager Gerry Hunsicker announced today that outfielder Richard Hidalgo will be placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to 5/23. He will be eligible to come off the DL on 6/7. The Astros will purchase the contract of Outfielder Colin Porter from Triple A New Orleans. He will join the team in Chicago. Porter has hit .318 (48x151) with three homers and 21 RBI in 43 games for the Zephyrs this season. He becomes the 20th Express Alum to reach the big leagues.
EXPRESS WELCOME: Tonight is the fifth game of the 12-game homestand, and the first game of a four-game series with the Frisco RoughRiders (Texas Rangers Double-A). The RoughRiders are the newest team in the Texas League, moving from Shreveport to the Metroplex this year.
YELLOW RIBBON CONCERT SERIES: June 20th and 21st marks the first major public concerts for The Dell Diamond. Foreigner and The Little River Band will highlight the Yellow Ribbon Concert Series with a show on Friday the 20th. The Saturday line-up includes Rick Trevino, Tommy Shane Steiner, Anytown, The Allie Danielle Band and Brandon Rhyder. Tickets for both days will go on sale next Wednesday (6/4) at 10:00 am at all STAR ticket outlets, including www.startickets.com and Albertsons. Tickets will be on sale at The Dell Diamond on the day of the show only.
EXPRESS TO HELP INJURED PLAYER: Representatives will accept donations on behalf of Harker Heights High School baseball player Jack Noyes before tonight's game. The senior was paralyzed from the chest down during a playoff game on May 3. All donations will help defray his medical expenses. For those that are not attending tonight's game there is a savings account in Jack's Name at the First National Bank Texas in Killeen. Checks can be made out to Jack Noyes and the bank will deposit them in his account. The address for the bank is: First National Bank Texas, P.O. Box 937, Killeen, Texas 76540.
