Express Put Backfield in Motion with Four Player Signings

November 3, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Reading Express News Release

Reading, Pa. (November 4, 2010) - The Reading Express has announced four additional signings for their inaugural season in the Indoor Football League. Jason Henley, Jamar Brittingham, Franklin Frazier, and Rod Gray will all compete to play at the fullback position in the Express offense in 2011.

Henley (6'4" 255 lbs) returns for his fourth season with the Express. Signed out of Kutztown University where he was a PSAC All Star as a tight end, Henley has found a home in the Express backfield as the last line of pass protection. He was vital to the protection of quarterback Rob Flowers during his MVP season of 2009 when the Express captured the AIFA Championship. His 2010 season cut short by a torn hamstring, the Berks County native is completely healthy and ready for a return to action.

Brittingham (6'1" 220 lbs) returns to the Express for his second season. The Bloomsburg product brings an added dimension to the backfield as a pure runner. He finished his collegiate career as the Huskies all time leading rusher with 5,689 yards rushing and scored 516 points. Both marks are PSAC records as well. Brittingham began to show Express fans some of that ability as a runner, a pass receiver, and a kick returner during the 2010 season before a knee injury ended his rookie season in the indoor game.

"We are very excited to see how Jason and Jamar's progress is coming along from the help of the Reading Hospital Medical Group-Sports Medicine program, from their season ending injuries last year," said Express Head Coach Chris Thompson. "Having both of them back and healthy will only make us a better football team."

Frazier (6'2" 250 lbs) played his college football at Hampton University. This will be his first season with the Express.

Gray (5' 10" 205 lbs) is also a first year player in Reading. He played collegiately at Northwest Oklahoma State and finished his career with 1,261 yards rushing and 13 TD. He averaged nearly five yards per carry.

"We are really excited to be bringing all 4 of these guys into camp this February for the offensive side of the ball," said Thompson. "Each of them again can bring something different to the team and Franklin and Rod are both right out of college, so they are young and hungry to earn a spot."

Reading Express Indoor Professional Football began play in 2006 in the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pa. In five seasons, the team has amassed an overall record of 64-20 with four playoff appearances, two conference titles and the 2009 AIFA National Championship. In 2011, Reading will begin play as a new member of the Indoor Football League.
