Eau Claire Express News Release
Tyler Sparger has had a great summer of baseball.
He became the closer for his hometown Eau Claire Express team, notching six saves in 13 appearances with a dazzling 1.68 ERA.
He was selected to represent the Express at the 19th Annual Northwoods League All-Star Game, where he pitched a scoreless eighth inning with two strikeouts for the South squad.
Now, he is part of a Major League organization. Wednesday night, it was confirmed Sparger signed a contract offered to him by the Seattle Mariners.
With the 75 plus Major League scouts in attendance at the NWL All-Star Game Tuesday night at Carson Park in Eau Claire, Sparger performed beautifully, striking out two guys with his fastball topping out at 97 MPH on the center field radar gun reader.
The Eau Claire Memorial grad will now go through the minor systems in his quest to get to the show. Although he will not be able to play with the Express anymore, he will forever remain apart of the ballclub and everyone in the Express organization appreciates his contributions.
