Green Bay, Wis. - The Lakeshore Chinooks scored six consecutive runs to close out the game on Thursday night, rallying for a 6-3 extra inning victory over the Bullfrogs.
Bryce Bellin got the nod to start for Green Bay and got in to some trouble early on in the first inning, loading the bases. A double play ended the Chinooks threat, sparking the offense in the process.
For a second consecutive game, the Bullfrogs rallied with two outs in the first inning. Nick Torres drove home Robert Youngdahl with a double to give Green Bay a 1-0 lead early on.
The scoring was quiet until the fifth inning until a RBI sacrifice fly hit to right field from Bryant Burleson to score Ryan Matranga. A wild pitch from Joe Greenfield then scored Jack Parenty from third, giving Green Bay a 3-0 lead after the fifth.
Lakeshore finally got on the board in the next half inning with a solo home run from Ryan Krill. It was his seventh of the season, and it cut the 'Frogs lead to 3-1 after the sixth.
Bryce Bellin was relieved in the eighth inning by Matt Freeman. Bellin left in line for his second victory of the season.
Freeman got in trouble with back to back walks to Papi and Krill. Mike Hollenbeck singled to left field. That play would have loaded the bases, as Papi was initially held around third base, but a throwing error from Jimmy Coady allowed Papi to score. Sawyer Polen then singled to center field to score Krill and tie the game at 3-3 after the eighth.
After a scoreless ninth inning, the Bullfrogs headed to extra innings for the third straight game.
Lakeshore took advantage of a struggling Briant Trieglaff in the 10th inning, bringing home three runs to take a 6-3 lead over Green Bay. Mitch Sewald retired the side in order in the bottom of the tenth to secure a 6-3 Chinooks victory.
The win went to Chinooks reliever Mitch Sewald (4-1), and loss to Bullfrogs reliever Brian Trieglaff (1-3). Green Bay falls to 6-13 in the second half and 22-32 overall.
