(WINDSOR, ON)- The Windsor Express (17-14) gave up a dominating first half lead to the London Lightning (19-9) for a final score of 113-110.
Akeem Scott made his Lightning debut with a bucket to start off the game, but Chris Commons responded with a deep three right after. The score was tied ten times during the first quarter. Kirk Williams Jr hit a buzzer beating three to give the Express a 30-27 advantage.
Kirk Williams Jr took his momentum and opened the quarter with a three point play. Windsor continued their dominance in the quarter, outscoring London 32-30. Windsor finished the first half with a 62-57 lead.
Warren Ward started off the second half with a deep jumper to bring the Lightning within three, 62-59. Brandon Robinson responded with a three pointer right after. Stephen Maxwell put up back to back baskets to give the Lightning the lead. The Express finished the third quarter down by 10, 90-80.
The final quarter of the game saw a little bit of life come from Windsor as they attempted to get back in the game. Chris Commons brought the score within two points with 31 seconds remaining in the game, 111-109. Windsor was not able to close out the game, and would take a loss, 113-110.
Chris Commons finished with a game high 25 points and 7 blocks. Kirk Williams had a double double performance, putting up 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Brandon Robinson added 17 points of his own.
Warren Ward led the Lightning with 24 points. Two Lightning players finished with double doubles: Stephen Maxwell (24 points/10 rebounds) and Akeem Scott (21 points/10 rebounds).
The Windsor Express head on the road Sunday afternoon to take on the Orangeville A's at the Athlete Institute for a 3:00pm game start.
