
Express Lose on the Road to A's at the Buzzer, 89-88

(MONO,ON)- The Windsor Express (7-9) were looking to win their second game in a row after a big win on Wednesday, but fell to the Orangeville A's (5-6) after a buzzer beater three from Rick Bodiford.
Chris Commons started off the game with a hook shot to give the Express their first lead of the game. The A's dominated the remainder of the quarter, capitalizing from free throws and three pointers. The A's finished the first with a 27-19 lead.
Orangeville continued to extend their lead in the second quarter, until Windsor came climbing back. Brandon Robinson was able to tie the game with a big three pointer with four minutes left in the half, bringing the score to 39-39. Orangeville slowed Windsor down by taking back the lead. Justin Moss hit a long three at the buzzer to give Orangeville a 49-43 advantage going into halftime.
The Express were starting to climb back in the third quarter, bringing the score within one after Brandon Robinson hit both of his free throws, making it 52-51 at the 7:40 mark. The A's close out the third after Bilal Benn hits a pair of free throws, making it a four point game, 65-61.
The final quarter of the game saw each team alternate in scoring for the first few minutes. Kirk Williams Jr gave Windsor their first lead since the first, midway through the quarter, 75-74. In the last minute of the game, Kirk tips in a shot to tie the score at 86-86. Tony Bennett hits both of his free throws with 3.3 seconds remaining to put Windsor back in the lead. Orangeville gets the ball back, and Rick Bodiford hits a three with 1 second left to seal the win, 89-88.
Kirk Williams Jr put up a game high 31 points and added 15 boards to make it a double double. Brandon Robinson had 16 points of his own.
Lewis Jackson was the leading scorer for the A's, putting up 18 points. Rick Bodiford had 15 points of his own.
The Windsor Express head back on the road to take on the London Lightning on Saturday, February 6th for a 7:00pm game start.
The Express will be back at The WFCU Centre on Thursday, February 11th for a rematch against the Orangeville A's. The game is scheduled for 7:30pm.
