Express Fall Despite Portalatin's Big Game
November 25, 2012 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Windsor Express News Release
(HALIFAX, N.S.) - Windsor Express centre Wayne Portalatin had his best game of the season Saturday night but the visitors came up short 103-85 to the Halifax Rainmen here Saturday night.
It was a bit of revenge for the Rainmen who were beaten in Windsor's National Basketball League of Canada debut back on November 2.
Portalatin, from the University of Texas-El Paso, hauled down four rebounds to go with his 14 points and strong defensive play that included at least one blocked shot.
Mike Helms paced the Express with 17 points which saw Windsor outscore the Rainmen 22-13 in the final 12 minutes.
Recently activated guard Darrel Lampley had 10 points including a three-point buzzer beater bomb from nearly half court.
For the Rainmen, last year's league leading scorer Brandon Robinson and Darren Duncan each had 15 points.
Windsor's four-game round trip continues Thursday night when they travel to Moncton to take on the Miracles and Friday head over to the island where they will take on the Summerside Storm.
