(WINDSOR, ON) - The Windsor Express (15-13) returned to The WFCU Centre on Sunday, March 13th to secure a win against the visiting Orangeville A's (8-17). The Express were successful, holding off Orangeville for a 102-100 victory.
The Express were off to a strong start, by taking an early lead, 6-2 in the first few minutes. The A's began to come back late in the quarter, and Dominic Cheek hit a jumper to tie the score with 33 seconds remaining. The Express finished the first quarter tied at 22-22.
The second quarter saw Orangeville build a lead against Windsor in the first four minutes, 35-26. Brandon Robinson's three pointer put Windsor back in the lead 40-37 with less than 4 minutes left. Windsor finishes the first half with a 48-41 lead.
The second half of the game was off to a slower start for both teams. Tony Bennett scored the first basket of the third 2 minutes into the third. From there, each team switched in scoring. Kirk Williams Jr hits a three pointer in the last fifteen seconds of the quarter to give the Express a 73-70 advantage going into the final quarter of the game.
Dominic Cheek gives Orangeville a quick lead, 74-73 after hitting a three pointer. Orangeville maintained a lead for most of the quarter, until Chris Commons completed a three point play, with over 3 minutes left. The last few minutes saw baskets exchanged between each team, until Tony Bennett headed to the line. Windsor finishes with a win, 102-100.
Chris Commons put up a game high 31 points. Tony Bennett added 19 points of his own, and Kirk Williams Jr had 18 points.
Dominic Cheek was the leading scorer for the A's, putting up 24 points. Bilal Benn added 17 points.
The Windsor Express will be back at The WFCU Centre on Sunday, March 20th to host the Saint John Mill Rats for a 2:00pm game start.
