Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Round Rock Express (58-43) used a barrage of runs to split the series with the Oklahoma City Dodgers (62-39) at Dell Diamond Monday night, 11-5. The Express only failed to score in two innings of play and scored at least two runs in four innings.

ML rehabber Antoan Richardson started the bottom of the first with a walk and promptly stole second to move into scoring position with SS Hanser Alberto at the plate. Alberto then laid down his fourth sacrifice hit of the season to shuffle Richardson to third with the hot-hitting Ryan Strausborger due up. Strausborger hit a sharp grounder to Dodgers 2B Darwin Barney who went home with the throw, but was off target as Richardson slid over the plate and Strausborger moved on to second with one out. Strausborger kept his recent offensive outpouring on pace with his 25th steal of the season by swiping third with 1B Ed Lucas batting. Lucas engaged with OKC starter Trevor Cahill for a five-pitch at-bat before launching his fourth homer of the season into left field, extending the Express lead to 3-0. Cahill used back-to-back ground outs to end the first.

Dodgers LF Scott Schebler got aboard with a one-out walk in the second off Express starter Ross Wolf who then gave up a single that sent Schebler to second. Schebler found his way home three pitches later thanks to a single from OKC RF Kyle Jensen that brought the score to 3-1. Wolf settled by crafting consecutive ground outs to bring the E-Train bats back out.

The wheels started to turn once again for the Express in the bottom of the second as C Chris Gimenez collected a one-out walk and established himself on second thanks to 2B Tyler Pastornicky's first hit back since returning from the Pan American Games. Richardson then lined a single, but a laser from Jensen to Dodgers C Shawn Zarraga eliminated Gimenez at home, keeping the score at 3-1. Round Rock remained potent in the inning by recording sequential one-run RBI singles from Alberto and Strausborger that put the fourth and fifth runs on the board.

Round Rock's top of the lineup kept the pressure on Cahill as Alberto manufactured a one-out single and was the beneficiary of a Strausborger double that gave the Express right fielder his first three-RBI game of the season. The single put the Express up 6-1, but Cahill closed the inning on a ground out and his third K of the night.

OKC moved the needle in the top of the fifth courtesy of a two-out double from Barney and a walk to SS Corey Seager that put runners on first and second. Dodgers CF Chris Heisey supplied the damage with a two-RBI single off Wolf that inched the Dodgers closer, 6-3. Wolf received a mound visit from pitching coach Brad Holman and responded with a fly out to end the Oklahoma City charge.

Express CF Jared Hoying padded the Round Rock lead with a solo blast that landed in the glove of a fan in the right field berm, lengthening the lead to 7-3. The homer marked his 18th of the campaign and put him in a tie for third in the PCL. Pastornicky grounded into a force after Gimenez was hit by a pitch from new Dodgers pitcher Steve Smith that removed Gimenez at second. Smith appeared for Cahill (0-2, 7.82) who went 4.0 innings with seven hits, six runs (six earned), four walks and three Ks. Richardson garnered his first RBI as a member of the Express with a triple that raced Pastornicky all the way home for an 8-3 advantage.

Jensen tallied his third hit of the game on a sharp grounder to Alberto that positioned him on first with one out. C Ralph Henriquez, who replaced Shawn Zarraga after a home plate collision in the first, connected on a 3-2 pitch from Wolf that scored Jensen to add the fourth Dodgers run on the scoreboard. The single completed Wolf's (10-5, 5.59) start after 5.1 innings, eight hits, four runs (four earned), two walks and three strikeouts on 98 pitches. Southpaw Alex Claudio was the first hurler out of the bullpen retired successive batters on nine pitches.

Smith yielded the ninth Express run of the finale by walking in Strausborger after Gimenez took a four-pitch base on balls. The run was the only harm in the bottom of the sixth Round Rock inflicted, wasting multiple bases loaded situations as Smith escaped with a ground out.

Barney produced a lead-off homer in the top of the seventh that returned the deficit to four runs.

Round Rock erupted with more offense as OKC LHP Grant Dayton hit Richardson with a pitch to start the seventh. Dayton logged a fly out, but issued a walk to Strausborger that lit first and second. Lucas popped out to Barney, but 3B Joey Gallo broke a recent slump with a two-RBI double that capped the Express run total at 11.

RHP Stolmy Pimentel tossed back-to-back shutout innings for the E-Train to solidify the series split with the 11-5 game four win.

Round Rock continues its 12-game homestand by welcoming the Omaha Storm Chasers to Dell Diamond for the second time this season. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. as Express RHP Alec Asher (3-5, 4.91) takes on Strom Chasers RHP Miguel Almonte (1-0, 2.70).
