
Evins Leads Wings in Shutout Win

EDINBURG-- The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (36-37) used a strong pitching performance from Trent Evins in route to a 3-0 shut out win over the Edinburg Roadrunners (36-37) Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball stadium.
RGV broke a scoreless tie in the top of the second inning, Hector Garcia led off with a single, Haroki Itakura later scored Garcia on an RBI single giving the Wings an early 1-0 lead.
Kieran Bradford singled then later scored on a RBI single from Roberto Ramirez making it 2-0 Wings.
The Wings tacked on another run in the fifth inning on a RBI single from Albert Carpen scoring Itakura from second giving RGV a 3-0 lead.
The three runs were good enough as RGV took game one of the four game series. Evins was credited with the win meanwhile Mike Loseke (5-2) was charged with the loss tossing seven and one thirds while allowing three runs on nine hits.
Game two is set for Thursday with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
