The Oshawa Generals 2014-15 season home opener is only days away and we're certain that this game and evening will provide a night to remember for everyone in attendance. Sept. 28 marks the beginning of the 77th season of Oshawa Generals hockey, this season presented by Meridian Credit Union. The Generals will take on the Sudbury Wolves to kick off another great season of junior hockey here in Oshawa. This year's home opener is extra special, as we will be retiring John Tavares' jersey, number 91. Tavares spent four and a half seasons with the Oshawa Generals from 2005-2009 and we are excited to honour one of the greatest Generals of all time.
Ontario Motors Sales and Mills Motors present our home opener game and tailgate. Tickets are going fast, but there are still plenty of great seats available for this game. Tailgate
Our home opener will start off with a tailgate party taking place at 4 p.m. outside of the General Motors Centre. Bring the whole family out to this event prior to the start of the game to enjoy some tailgate fun, sure to get you pumped up for the game. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the tailgate, including alcoholic beverages. We encourage fans to join us for the tailgate, there will be entertainment, games, and we're certain the tailgate will be FANtastic.
JT Retirement Ceremony
John Tavares will have his jersey number, 91 retired prior to the start of the game. Rogers Sportsnet Sports Journalist, Elliotte Friedman will MC the ceremony which will begin at 6:05 p.m.
The Game
The game will begin following the completion of John Tavares' jersey retirement. Similarly to all Generals home games, a number of exciting activities and promotions will take place through our intermissions and throughout the game on the concourse of the GM Centre.
Don't miss out on the Truck VS. Truck Showdown presented by Ontario Motors Sales and Mills Motors taking place during the second intermission. Fans will have the opportunity to fill out a ballot placing them on Team Sierra or Team Silverado. From these ballots, two lucky fans will be randomly selected to complete in an on-ice intermission activity for the chance to win a 2015 Sierra or Silverado. Get ready to cheer loud!
Commemorative Items
55 red replica Tavares jerseys will be for sale in the Generals Store on game day. These jerseys will be signed by John Tavares and available in sizes S to 2XL. Please keep in mind that only a limited number of signed jerseys will be available. A limited number of commemorative John Tavares lanyards will also be available for purchase in the Generals Store.

Yes - John Tavares will be present for the ceremony and game.
Will John Tavares be signing autographs or taking pictures with fans?
John Tavares will not be available to meet with fans at the home opener. Keeping in mind that this is a very special night for John and the Tavares family, we want to respect the fact that their family wants to spend the evening together.
Where will the game be broadcast?
The home opener will be broadcast on Rogers Television and can be listened to live by clicking the link on our website. You can also download the Oshawa Generals app to listen live, available for download by searching Oshawa Generals in the app store.
