Boise Hawks News Release
The Boise Hawks (23-24) fell to the Everett AquaSox (25-22) by a final score of 10-3 in the first game of the five game series. The Hawks allowed 20 hits and have now dropped seven of their last eight games.
Boise got the game's first run in the 2nd inning. Willie Maciver doubled and Daniel Jipping moved him over to 3rd base on a long fly out to right-field. Cade Harris came up and hit a sacrifice fly to center and the Hawks led 1-0.
But Everett broke the game open in the 3rd inning. Hawks starter Jeffri Ocando could not record an out, as the entire AquaSox batting order had a hit and put up eight runs. The inning included a two-run home run from Jansiel Rivera, a three-run home run from Cal Raleigh and a Ryan Garcia two-run home run.
Hawks starting pitcher Jeffri Ocando ends up going two innings, allowing eight runs as Miguel Ausua came on and finished up the inning.
The AquaSox tacked on two more runs in the 4th inning on a Garcia RBI-single and a RBI-walk for Connor Kopach. Ausua went two innings allowing two runs for Boise. Eric Hepple gave the Hawks three innings of shutout ball out of the bullpen and it was Keinter Olivares with a three-up, three-down 8th inning.
Danny Edgeworth had a two-RBI triple in the 7th to make the score 10-3, but that was all the Hawks could muster up.
Boise will play the 2nd game of the series in Everett tomorrow at 8:05 MT. The Hawks will return home after the All-Star break on August 9th for "Thirsty Thursday" against the Spokane Indians. First pitch will be at 7:15 MT. Get your tickets at BoiseHawks.com or call 208-322-5000.
