
Everett Falls 4-2 to Seattle in Final Regular Season Game

The Everett Silvertips played their final regular season game tonight in Key Arena, where they fell to the Seattle Thunderbirds by a final score of 4-2. Seattle wins the series 4-6-0-1. Everett, the 2005-06 US Division Champions, end their season with a final record of 40-27-2-3 and 85 points. Seattle, finishing second in the US Division, rests at 76 points and a 35-31-1-5 record.
The first period ended with Seattle on top 2-1. Kyle Pess scored the Thunderbirds' first goal at 2:02, on a power play, after he caught a rebound from a Thomas Hickey shot. Karel Hromas tied it midway through the opening session while Everett was on a power play, with assists from Zach Hamill and Jonathan Harty. But with 50 seconds to go, Aaron Gagnon tipped in marker number two for Seattle.
Only one goal was scored in the second and that came from Ladislav Scurko, at 14:49. Scurko and Greg Scott had a two on one opportunity against Jason Fransoo and put the puck behind Matt Esposito.
In the third Lindsay Nielsen extended the Thunderbirds' lead to 4-1 after his shot went off of Esposito's glove. Everett scored once more, this time from WHL newcomer, Mitch Wall. Mitch Wall (#21) earned his first career Western Hockey League goal at 4:52 of the final period. Graham Potuer and the 2005-06 Iron Man Jason Fransoo earned the helpers.
Matt Esposito earned a start for the Silvertips in tonight's game and did well by stopping 22 of 26 shots. Esposito ends the regular season at 3-5-1-0. Thunderbird veteran Bryan Bridges made 23 saves on 25 attempts and ends the regular season at 24-12-1-3. On the power play both teams converted on one with Everett having seven chances and Seattle having two. The Thunderbirds out shot the Silvertips 26-25.
The Everett Silvertips embark on their third consecutive playoff journey. Everett will battle the Tri-City Americans in the first round, best of seven series. The Silvertips have home ice advantage and will host the Americans on Friday and Saturday, March 24th and 25th. Both games begin at 7:05pm.
