Everett Silvertips News Release

In the eighth meeting of the year between the Everett Silvertips and the Seattle Thunderbirds, the Silvertips earn a 3-1 win over their I-5 rivals. Everett now leads the current series 6-2. Still first in the US Division and first overall, the Silvertips move up to 39-7-0-2 and 80 points. Seattle, fourth in the division, falls to 22-15-1-11 and 56 points.

Kyle Beach put the first two goals on the scoreboard for Everett. The first tally, his 23rd on the year, came at 12:24 of the first period. Taylor Ellington took a shot from the point and Beach waited on the doorstep to bury it behind Derek Yeomans. The second goal was scored at 9:50 of the second period, while Everett had an extra man advantage. Beach again caught a rebound and gave his team a two goal cushion.

Late in the second, with only 11 seconds left in the period, Jan Eberle put one on the board for the Thunderbirds. His power play tally was assisted by Bud Holloway. Peter Mueller responded for the Silvertips midway through the third period. While Everett was on the power play, Peter Mueller wristed a bullet right into the back of the net.

Assisting the Silvertips' goals tonight were Ondrej Fiala with two and Peter Mueller, Taylor Ellington, Zach Hamill and Jason Fransoo all with one a piece. In goal for Everett was Leland Irving. He made 26 saves on 27 shots and betters his record to 24-4-0-2. Derek Yeomans, Seattle's netminder, stopped 22/25 but falls to 16-10-1-9 with the loss.

Tomorrow night, Sunday January 28th, the Everett Silvertips will host the WHL's newest team, the Chilliwack Bruins. The battle begins at 5:05pm.
