The Everett Silvertips defeated the Kelowna Rockets 4-3 in a shootout on Friday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna.

Rockets Captain Cal Foote(2) got things started for Kelowna ripping a point shot past Tips netminder Carter Hart to give the Rockets the early lead. The first assist went to Conner Bruggen-Cate and Libor Zabransky picked up the second assist for his first WHL point of his career. Zabransky continued with his offensive output as he took as slap shot that found the back of the Silvertips net for his first career WHL goal. The Rockets took a 2-0 lead into the middle period.

Rockets D-men kept the offence coming as James Hilsendager potted his first of the season on a pass from Kole Lind at 9:05 of the second. Everett forward Matt Fonteyne got the Tips on the board on the power play just over two minutes later at 11:47. The score stayed at 3-1 into the final stanza.

Everett drew within one just under five minutes into the third as Connor Dewar beat Rockets goaltender Brodan Salmond. The Rockets held the lead until 2:11 remaining when Riley Sutter slipped one through to even the game at 3-3. Regulation would solve nothing and the game needed overtime.

Overtime solved nothing either and the game went to a shootout.

The shootout went as follows:

Kole Lind: Miss

Patrick Bajkov: Goal

Tomas Soustal: Goal

Riley Sutter: Miss

Nolan Foote: Miss

Matt Fonteyne: Goal

- Rockets fall 4-3.

Brodan Salmond stopped 28 of the 31 shots he faced as his record falls to 2-0-0-1.

Kelowna drops to 2-0-0-1 on the season thus far.

The Rockets are back in action on Wednesday, October 4th, when they host the Victoria Royals at Prospera Place. Puck drop is 7:05pm.
